We are a friendly welcoming team working in four offices across Kendal, Windermere, Junction 36 and Kirkby Lonsdale. We are committed to making a positive difference to our clients, our people and our local communities.
We take our work very seriously but also want our people to get the most out of their time at work; we work hard to look after each other, to develop and grow our amazing local talent, to support each other and to create an environment where people can bring their best to work.

What is working at THW like?
We absolutely love what we do. Fundamentally, we are all committed to delivering outstanding legal services in a way that people feel is accessible and gets to the root of their problems and we are driven by one core value, Making A Positive Difference. We do that together, working as a team, problem solving, communicating and having fun along the way!
We deliver to the highest standards but we aren’t ‘suits’, we are relaxed and friendly. Depending on the nature of your role, the department or office you are working in, things can vary.
Each of our four offices is different to the other, with Kendal being the biggest and Kirkby Lonsdale the smallest. Our Rural Law Practice office it J36 Rural Auction Centre is aimed at our farming and rural clients and has a very different feel altogether – in a good way! Bring your wellies!
We offer a broad range of legal work with teams delivering in the following areas: Wills, Trusts and Probate, Residential Property, Commercial Property, Commercial, Agricultural and Rural, Dispute Resolution and Family. Lawyers, paralegals, legal assistants and secretaries all work together and we are all supported by our brilliant Operations team including our cashiers and receptionists.
From those just at the start of their careers to those who have been with Thomson Hayton Winkley for many years, we are all learning every day in a supportive, friendly environment. Several of our team have been with us for over 20, 30 and in one case, 40 years: We think that speaks volumes and is fantastic to be able to share that knowledge with others as we embrace new joiners who bring in fresh ideas and approaches from their own experiences.
