Why Thomson Hayton Winkley?

Your staff are so important to your business and its reputation, yet dealing with staff issues can become a headache.  You need to ensure that your staff are engaged and happy to work for you, that way they will provide a good service which in turn reflects well on your business.  One way of ensuring this is avoiding problems with staff over things such as their working terms and conditions.  Not having clear policies and procedures in place can lead to misunderstandings which can escalate.

If you are buying or selling a business it is important that you are aware of your TUPE obligations under The Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 and we can work with you to ensure that you get things right.  You also need to be aware of the implications of the Equality Act 2010 to avoid any potential discrimination claims.  By keeping up to date with changes to employment law and regulations you can trust us to give you the practical advice you need.

We can draft your contracts of employment and staff handbooks.  And, if things do get that far, we can advise you on disciplinaries and grievances and represent you in dismissal and other tribunal hearings.  Where employment comes to an end, this is often recorded in a Settlement Agreement.  Drafting these and advising both employers and employees before signing is something we do on a regular basis.  Where redundancy becomes necessary we can advise employers of their options and ensure that the correct procedures are followed so that there is as little disruption to your business as possible.
