We recently had the pleasure of hosting a year 10 work experience student. We asked them to provide us with a summary of their week, and this is what they wrote:
“As a secondary school student with an interest in law I was optimistic but nervous for my work experience placement and I honestly believe it could not have gone better. The team here at THW were so welcoming and friendly and contributed hugely to making my week an incredible experience.
Spending my week of work experience at Thomson Hayton and Winkley has provided me with a unique opportunity to develop my skills in a professional working environment. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and am incredibly grateful to every member of the THW team that I have worked with throughout the week. The time, effort, and support they have put in to making my experience both enjoyable and educational have been truly remarkable.
This experience has strengthened my understanding of the legal profession, and I believe that it will help me significantly when deciding on my future career path. Everyone I have had the privilege of working with this week has been incredibly friendly, welcoming, and supportive. They have been generous with their time and were always willing to answer my questions and explain their work, making this a valuable learning experience.
Undertaking tasks such as drafting settlements, preparing will amendments, researching legal legislation, and organising historical deeds made me feel like a valued member of the team and greatly enhanced my experience. These tasks helped me develop key skills such as adaptability, attention to detail, organisation, and active listening. The members of the THW team always seem to be happy to help me understand the importance and procedure of these tasks and enhance my learning.
Many thanks to the entire team for their support, guidance, and encouragement throughout the week. This placement could not have gone better, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
We love these kind words, and wish them all the best in their future career.
