Phil Capstick Trainee Solicitor
I specialise in Dispute Resolution and Employment Law having spent around 15 years in the motor trade before retraining into law. I joined the Dispute Resolution department at Thomson Hayton Winkley in January 2026.
I studied law at the University of Cumbria and then carried out an SQE apprenticeship at the University of Lancashire and I am awaiting my final results.
As dispute resolution (or litigation as it is often referred to), can be extremely costly and stress inducing, my role is to attempt to settle private and commercial disputes in a manner that is the most cost effective to our clients with the least amount of stress as possible. This includes negotiating with other parties in order to avoid lengthy Court proceedings.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son, travelling the UK and Europe to motorsport events. My son and I are also both motorcycle enthusiasts and can be found travelling the lakes on motorbikes, when the weather allows!
