I began my Legal Journey in 2002, attending the University of Wales, Aberystwyth to read Law with French, spending a year in Belgium at the Universite Catholique de Louvain le Neuve, before moving on to the College of Law, Chester, to obtain my Legal Practice Course, with the ‘Public Legal Services’ Pathway addition.
Since then, I’ve worked across the insurance and legal Industries, either handling various types of claims in the motor area or working on conveyancing and private client matters. During COVID, I was (un)fortunate enough to be working on wedding insurance claims.
I joined the Institute of Paralegals in 2016 as a Fellow, and since their merger with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2023/4, I’ve been exploring the potential opportunities this can offer.
I joined THW in January 2024 as a legal assistant and have been involved with the residential conveyancing department providing cover for other secretaries, as well as developing my own caseload of conveyancing files, including probate sales and assents, working with registered and unregistered Titles. I confess to enjoying the older pre-registration deeds, especially handwritten, seeing them closer to works of art than documents.
In January 2021, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Condition Level 1, which lends itself to procedures and processes, as well as attention to detail. I’m also involved with THW and MAPD’s initiatives to promote understanding of neurodiversity across the group.
Outside of work, I’m very much the Introvert, spending my free time reading, listening to music, and working on subscription models . I also watch quiz shows and have lent those skills to a quiz team at THW in 2024 – winning, of course!
