Catherine Johnston Solicitor
I joined Thomson Hayton Winkley in October 2026, shortly after qualifying as a Solicitor. I help clients with Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and the Administration of Estates. These are often very personal matters, so I like to take the time to listen, understand what is important to each client and help them put practical plans in place to protect their wishes and the people closest to them.
My route to qualification has been a long-held ambition and one of which I am incredibly proud. After graduating from Lancaster University with an LLB (Hons) in Law in 2014, I built more than 10 years’ experience in the legal profession, progressing from legal secretary to paralegal and then trainee solicitor in both Private Client and Family Law. I completed my solicitor apprenticeship and passed SQE1 and SQE2, achieving my goal while also raising two children and navigating the challenges of the Covid pandemic along the way.
I am naturally kind, caring and approachable, and I genuinely enjoy helping people through what can be difficult or uncertain times. I want my clients to feel comfortable asking questions and confident that they have been heard. Whether I am preparing a Will, setting up a Lasting Power of Attorney or dealing with an Estate, I aim to explain things clearly and guide clients through the process at a pace that feels right for them.
I live in a small village near Lancaster with my husband and our two children. When I am not at work, I love spending time with my family, especially heading off on camping trips together.
