We were delighted to sponsor the Agricultural Service Provider of the Year category at the 2026 Cumbria Farmer Awards, held recently at Carlisle Racecourse.

John Cooke, Liam Mulholland and Adele Dawson from our Rural Law team attended the evening, with John presenting the award on behalf of THW.

The finalists in the Agricultural Service Provider of the Year category were Aspatria Farmers Ltd, Cumbria Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs and Penrith & District Farmers Mart – with Penrith & District Farmers Mart announced as the winner. During their acceptance speech, representatives of the Mart paid tribute to younger farmers and members of staff, recognising the important role they play in the organisation’s continued success. They described the Mart as being “run by farmers, for the benefit of farmers”.

We enjoyed a fantastic evening celebrating the innovation, resilience and commitment that continue to make Cumbria’s farming community such an important part of the county’s economy and heritage. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was excellent, and there were inspiring stories from across the sector, with particular recognition given to young farmers, innovation and diversification within agriculture.
