We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to Westmorland County Show this year, while celebrating a particularly special milestone for us as Director John Cooke serves as President of the Westmorland County Agricultural Society.
The show, taking place on 9 and 10 September, remains one of Cumbria’s most important agricultural events, bringing together farmers, rural businesses, food and drink producers, community organisations and visitors from across the region.
As President, John has spent the year so far representing the Society at a range of events, including Country Fest, School Farm Open Days and the County Show itself. He recently hosted a family fun day and BBQ in support of The Farming Community Network, helping to raise vital funds for the charity’s work.
Reflecting on his connection with the Society, John said:
“I have been a big fan, and member, of WCAS for a long time. It does a huge amount to address the lack of understanding about farming and to showcase all that is good about farming and farmers. I have always admired the way farmers support one another through WCAS and engage with the wider community, producers and the tourism sector.”
John’s presidency reflects a long-standing commitment to the rural community and an appreciation of the vital role farming plays in the local economy and way of life.
The THW and Rural Law Practice team will once again be located at its usual position on Stand C92 throughout the show. Visitors are invited to call in for complimentary hot drinks, pastries and cakes during the day, with wine and cheese available at lunchtime.
