Always approachable, helpful and professional

Verity Gawthorp Director & Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association

I specialise in all aspects of agricultural and rural property matters – including sales and purchases of agricultural property, agricultural tenancies, commons associations, partnership matters and the first registration of unregistered titles.

My original undergraduate degree was in biology from the University of York. However, after completing my degree, I decided to pursue a career in law and undertook a postgraduate diploma in law at the College of Law in York. I completed my training contract with DLA Piper LLP in Sheffield and, upon qualification, moved to Wrigleys LLP in Leeds where I specialised in agricultural and rural property law. I joined the Rural Law Practice in January 2020 after relocating to Burton in Lonsdale with our two children.

In early 2023 I was delighted and proud to achieve Fellowship of the Agricultural Law Association.

I am married to a farmer, so understand the issues facing our farming and rural clients. Outside of work I enjoy walking and millinery.

Don't take our word for it
