My parents moved to the South Lakes before my first birthday,
so I consider myself to be a northerner. I was educated at the Queen Elizabeth
School in Kirkby Lonsdale, and then Warwick University, gaining a BA in
Developmental Psychology. After graduation I worked for the management consultancy
Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) before juggling family-life with part-time work
for Tesco and then a couple of national charities.
When my father became seriously ill in 2003, we relocated back
to the area and after my father’s death, I decided that I would like to retrain
as a solicitor. I qualified as a family lawyer in 2010 with a local firm and then
branched out into the private client department, dealing with estates, wills,
Court of Protection and Powers of Attorney. In 2015 I qualified as a STEP Trust
and Estate Practitioner (TEP), having come top in the country in the certificate
exam along the way. I was the only
northerner at the Award Ceremony.
Having worked with several local firms I joined THW in 2020.
In my spare time I have the privilege of being a Trustee of
St John’s Hospice, which is our local hospice. I sit on the fundraising and
communications sub-committee.
I have been married since 1992 and have two children who
have grown up and flown the nest to London.
In my spare time I like to walk in the Lakes, and occasionally escape to
London, or to Scotland, the home of my forebears.
