Wendy Wharton Head of Family, Chartered Legal Executive

I am a Chartered Legal Executive and obtained higher rights of audience in family work and was one of the first lawyer to do so and I have been a qualified lawyer, specialising in family matters for 19 years. I am a member of Resolution First for Family Law.

Specialising in all areas of family law including Private Law Children Proceedings, Non-Molestation/Occupations Proceedings and Matrimonial Proceedings ie. divorce and finances,  I have tons of experience and expertise assisting many families in the local areas in resolving their family disputes.   Also experienced in dealing with all areas of relationship breakdowns and the financial difficulties which can sometimes follow from divorce/separation by way of negotiating, referral to mediation and ensuring protection is provided following agreement and if necessary, in Court.

I pride myself on my firm but conciliatory approach to my cases and I believe I have a great rapport with clients.  My approach to practice is non-confrontational, always seeking to help parties reach amicable resolutions wherever possible – but is robust and dynamic when necessary.

Supporting lawyers and other staff in their career choices and wellbeing in the legal profession is also something that I am passionate about.

I moved to Morecambe in 2013 having previously lived and  career prospects. worked in Nottingham where I qualified working in both the Nottingham and Loughborough areas.  Prior to that I left home at 17 ½ and joined the Army serving some 8 years.  I then worked for the Army as a civilian within the military police and legal sectors of the army, the latter providing commands with regard to prosecuting soldiers and families for offences committed whilst serving and stationed in military locations and that was where I discovered I loved law and was encouraged by my then boss who told me  ‘you would be good at this’ which spurred me to do just that get qualified and I have not looked back.

My previous roles include working at Watson Ramsbottom Solicitors in Clitheroe helping clients from all over the country with their issues and 8 years with Ratclife & Bibby Solicitors covering Lancaster and Morecambe, only leaving to better my career prospects.

I have two adult children; 4 grandchildren and 3 other grandchildren in my current marriage.  My husband is Stephen and we have a Beagle called Bentley and an African Grey called Coco – yes he/she does talk ‘a lot’.  Outside of work we go away to the countryside exploring the great outdoors, we have an allotment where we grow our own fruit and veg.
