Miriam Powell Solicitor

I am an experienced residential conveyancer dealing with freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, mortgages, transfers of equity and all things property related.

Having been born and bred in Cumberland (as it then was) near Penrith, I attended the University of Derby obtaining my first degree, a BSc in Combined Science, following which I moved to the Kendal.  Here I spent 12 years working for the Halifax in all aspects of investment and mortgage administration, but left after the arrival of my third child.

During my children’s infancy I worked as a registered childminder and then decided to retrain, so embarked on the Law Conversion course at the University of Central Lancashire.  Following my graduation and subsequent Legal Practice course I joined a Kendal law firm where I remained for almost 18 years, working in general high street practice, including wills & probate and Court of Protection, matrimonial law, personal injury, but latterly exclusively as a residential conveyancer.

I have recently joined Thomson Hayton Winkley after what might be described as a Covid Gap Year spent caring for an ageing parent.

Outside of the office I love nothing more than being outdoors – I am a keen cyclist and love walking the fells, canoeing on the lakes and exploring the quieter parts of the county. I enjoy travel both in the UK and overseas as well as spending time with my family whenever the opportunity arises.

Don't take our word for it
